Panama Film Commission

The Panama Film Commission is a division under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, created to promote and facilitate the filming industry to be developed in this country by giving the producers and directors of movies, TV programs and other audiovisual projects the support and benefits needed in order to open new opportunities in our country. Under the Law Nº 16 of 27th of April of 2012 which establishes the norms, regulations and incentives for the film industry, we can provide services such as: • A One Stop Shop for film permits and production needs. • A directory of providers of equipment and services related to the film industry (location scouting, makeup, catering, editing, etc.). • The facilitation of visas and work permits, before coming to Panama. • A National Cinematic Film Fund to help boost the local Panamanian film industry. • Special incentives for companies that want to open permanent film facilities in Panama.

  • Large, long-stay productions filming on public property must carry a minimum of $1 million liability insurance and $100,000 workers compensation plus third party liability.
  • All productions filming in residential or commercial neighborhoods are advised to notify and provide leaflets to all the residents.

  • Provide three (3) copies of the completed product to the Panama Film Commission upon release, required exclusively for National Registry purposes.
  • Grant the Panama Film Commission the right to publish, reproduce or disseminate any and all images that you send us for promotional, statistical and economic assessment purposes.
  • Allow the Panama Film Commission to come to your set and shoot approved, behind the scenes pictures to include in the Film Commission website of your production.
